The Comprehensive Approaches to Raising Educational Standards (CARES) Program is designed to provide support to and encourage retention of qualified child care staff employed in state-subsidized center-based child care programs or family child care home education networks by dispensing professional development stipends to further educational attainment. The eligible population for the CARES program is Sacramento County center staff in Title 5, state subsidized early childhood education programs or family child care home providers and assistants who are members of Beanstalk, the Family Child Care Home Education Network in Sacramento County.
To learn more about entry and annual requirements and to submit an application for the CARES program, all interested participants MUST attend a mandatory CARES Orientation. Check our calendar of events at www.childaction.org to find out about upcoming orientations.
Due to funding limitations, NOT ALL ELIGIBLE PARTICIPANTS are guaranteed a stipend. If there are more eligible applicants than funding available, a lottery will be held to determine stipend awardees.
2016 CARES Orientations
Orientations for 2016 CARES will be held throughout the spring and summer months. Spring Orientations are posted on our Calendar of Events.
CARES Program Funding for Publicly Funded Programs
2016 CARES can only provide stipends to providers in Title 5 CCR programs that receive state funding to provide child care and the providers in family child care programs that are a part of the Beanstalk Family Child Care Network.
Track 3B Pilot
A pilot year of a new track, 3B, is available this 2016 year. It provides the opportunity for applicants who have already completed their AA in ECE and already hold a Child Development Teacher level permit, to earn a stipend for approved professional growth activities.
