After-School
Enrichment Programs Booklet
This booklet is designed to give an overview of the
California 21st Century Community Learning Center programs
in Sacramento County, known as After-School Enrichment
Programs under the California Department of Education.
These programs serve students in kindergarten through
grade twelve. The focus is to provide the opportunity
for students and their families to continue to learn
new skills and discover new abilities after the school
day has ended.
After-School Enrichment Programs are not child care
programs and not required to follow State licensing
standards for health and safety of the facility. After-School
Enrichment Programs have their own set of educational
requirements of staff and volunteers and may not require
personnel background checks. Each program has it’s
own standard for hiring as well as its own standard
for the health and physical well-being for each child
attending.
